Medieval Gardens
11 October 2003 10:00 - 17:00
Norton Conyers Hall
near Ripon
The remains of medieval gardens of all types are increasingly being recognised in the landscape.
This day school will examine the documentary [written and pictorial] evidence for the forms of
gardens, who used them and why, and the ever-growing number and variety of medieval earthwork
gardens now being identified through field survey. The form of peasant gardens will also be
considered.
